Selayang Municipal Council (Majlis Perbandaran Selayang) is a local authority which administrates area including Bandar Baru Selayang, Bandar Baru Rawang, Batu Arang, Taman Seri Gombak, Bandar Tasik Puteri, Bandar Baru Kundang, Batu Caves, Part of Sungai Buloh, Part of Kepong and Bandar Country Homes with total area of 545km2.
Under the Local Government Act 1976, MPS has the power to collect taxes (in the form of assessment tax), to create laws and rules (in the form of by-laws) and to grant licenses and permits for any trade in its area of jurisdiction.
MPS is also responsible for public health and sanitation, waste removal and management, town planning, environmental protection and building control, social and economic development, and general maintenance functions of urban infrastructure.
MPS main headquarters is located at Bandar Baru Selayang.
MPS is currently led by its 8th President, Tuan Mohd Yazid Bin Sairi with a total of 1092 employees.
